Mission Statement

We, the faculty and staff of Southwestern Elementary School, will work together with parents and students to build a strong school community where everyone can safely learn, care and share in a kind, loving environment.

Elementary School Improvement Plan

During the 2005-2006 school year, a building level school improvement team (SIT) was developed and focused on the assumption that student learning can and should improve on a continuous basis. The plan-do-study-act cycle was used for our school improvement process:

• Plan: Develop a plan for improvement.
• Do: Implement the plan.
• Study: Evaluate the impact according to specific criteria.
• Act: Adjust strategies to better meet criteria.

This Southwestern Elementary School Improvement Plan is our first effort to collect, organize, and analyze data in order to drive school-wide improvement.
